Renji Hospital was founded in 1844 as the first hospital practising Western medicine in Shanghai after its opening as a treaty port, and today is a comprehensive Grade III Class A hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (official site, checked 15 Oct 2026).
