MYTH: If there is no medical visa, treatment in China must be illegal.
✅ Fact: This page does not tell you which visa to use. Ask the hospital what letter they will issue, then confirm the category with the Chinese visa centre for your passport.
Myths · Information, not medical advice
Each note below is a question to ask, not a fact we have sourced on this page. Where a public figure exists, it is linked from the worth-it check or the hospital summary.
MYTH: If there is no medical visa, treatment in China must be illegal.
✅ Fact: This page does not tell you which visa to use. Ask the hospital what letter they will issue, then confirm the category with the Chinese visa centre for your passport.
MYTH: A hospital in China will not give you paperwork an insurer can read.
✅ Fact: Do not assume that. Ask to see a sample invoice before you pay a deposit. If they will not show one, pause.
MYTH: Every large hospital works in English, or none of them do.
✅ Fact: Neither is something this site will say. Ask which parts of the stay are in English, and whether you need your own interpreter.
MYTH: You can pack any prescription and sort it out at the airport.
✅ Fact: This page does not list controlled medicines and does not quote a count of them. Check your own government's advice, and ask the hospital, before you pack.
MYTH: A private clinic and a public hospital charge the same.
✅ Fact: This site does not publish a multiple. Ask each place for a written all-in price. Compare those pieces of paper, not a rumour.
MYTH: After you fly home, the hospital will keep looking after you.
✅ Fact: Do not assume a remote clinic or an English discharge pack. Ask what they will still answer, and ask for the report and the imaging files before you leave.
